Katherine Mitchell is an attorney at Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton. She focuses on complex commercial and class action litigation. Katie has experience litigating cases involving Ponzi schemes and corporate fraud, deceptive and unfair trade practices, shareholder disputes, and business torts. She also has experience providing non-party, independent legal recommendations in high dollar matters.
Katie received her Bachelor of Science in Public Relations, magna cum laude, from Florida State University and her Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law. At UM, Katie served as an Articles and Comments Editor on the Executive Board of the University of Miami Law Review, a Dean’s Fellow in Torts, and a research assistant for both legal communications and constitutional law faculty. She was also awarded the Order of the Coif upon graduation.
Prior to joining KTT in 2021, Katie served as a federal judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jose E. Martinez at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. In 2023, Katie began an additional clerkship for the Honorable Adalberto Jordan at the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Katie returned to KTT upon completing her appellate clerkship.
Katie has published two law review articles on topics including federal habeas corpus and federal privacy legislation.
