Biography
Jim Bryan practices in Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton’s complex litigation department. Mr. Bryan focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, including class actions, antitrust, and intellectual property matters. Mr. Bryan has represented individuals and corporations as both plaintiffs and defendants in significant litigation matters across the country.
Since joining Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton, Mr. Bryan has participated in the successful resolution of a number of matters for the firm’s clients, including securities class actions and mass actions under the Class Action Fairness Act. Additionally, he was recently selected by the Florida Super Lawyers publication as a 2010 Rising Star.
Prior to joining Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton, Mr. Bryan was an associate with Boies, Schiller & Flexner, LLP, where past representative matters included: representation of an international financial services company accused of violating Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act; representation of organizational plaintiffs and individual plaintiffs seeking to increase access to medical care for children on Medicaid; representation of a syndicate of reinsurers relating to damages caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma to a national department store chain; representation of a technology company involved in a high profile lawsuit over the rights to computer source code; and representation of an international produce company against direct and indirect purchaser class actions brought under federal and state antitrust laws.
From 2003-2005, Mr. Bryan served as a law clerk to the Honorable William P. Dimitrouleas with the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Mr. Bryan graduated from Yale University in 1998 with a B.A. in Political Science and an interdisciplinary concentration in American government. While at Yale, Mr. Bryan was a four-year letterman in Baseball. In 2003, Mr. Bryan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law where he served on both the Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Team and the Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy. Mr. Bryan was also selected to be a member of the Order of the Coif.
