Maia Aron is an attorney in Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton’s complex litigation department and focuses her practice on complex, high-stakes litigation, including financial fraud, contract disputes, and other business torts. Maia was part of the team that represented more than seventy investors, who collectively lost $190 million investing with Fort Lauderdale lawyer Scott Rothstein, who ran a Ponzi scheme. The team recovered over 95% of losses, interest, and attorney fees, an unprecedented result.

Maia was part of the team that successfully represented a New York investor, and his closely held corporation, in a $2.5 billion dispute with his CEO (and the investor’s nephew) over entitlement to the proceeds of the sale of his oil and gas venture. She was also part of the team that successfully brought a class action suit against a pension company for unpaid investments.

Maia is a native Spanish speaker, is proficient in Portuguese and Hebrew, and is involved in advising and representing the firm’s international clients.

Maia received her J.D. degree from the University of Miami School of Law in May of 2005. There she was a member of the International Moot Court Board as well as Executive Vice President of the Cardozo Jewish Legal Society. Maia obtained a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from the University of Miami Graduate School of Business, and a B.B.A., cum laude, in Entrepreneurship and Business Management from the University of Miami.

Maia gives back to the community. She serves as the Jewish National Fund Miami Chapter’s President-Elect and Chair of Women for Israel. Maia also serves as the chair of Access Miami, the young leadership arm of American Jewish Committee (AJC) and as a member of AJC Miami’s Executive Committee. She is a member of the Miami Young Leadership Board of Friends of the Israel Defense Forces.
